Nothing ever works out the way it's supposed to...

Look at the bright side, traffic wouldn't be bad at all. I live 6 miles from my job, if I drive it takes at least 45 minutes to get in.

And with gas prices so low, you wouldn't really need to factor anything in for them. :embarrassed:

Let's see, that's 290 miles a day in a Jeep that gets maybe 20mpg highway? At $3.75/gallon that's $271.88/week.

$3.75?? Gas is $4.12 here the last time I checked.

I can relate. Really. When the state closed the first prison I worked in as a psych and I bumped into an empty position in Muskegon, I had to rent an apartment. It ate up our reserves, like a massive pay cut. It was a drag being away from the family. I was lonely and knew that I wasn't doing my part to help at home, so guilt piled on top of everything else. But what are you going to do? I am glad to be closer to home now, but the way it hurt to have to move across the state is still with me.

If the job is good and pays well why wouldn't you just relocate the whole family to Cleveland?

I have two kids in high school. I couldn't do that to them. Plus, this isn't the best market to sell a house in.

And it is about a two and half hour drive. I couldn't do that every day.

Mojo Brak.

I suppose that if you do take the Cleveland job, you could keep looking for a Columbus job, right? Maybe you'd only have to do it for a few months.

My dad commuted from where we lived in the mountains to San Jose (about 3 hours) every week while my sister and I were in high school. It worked out fine. And since he wasn't around much, it delayed the divorce by a good 4-5 years.
