I'll be getting one this year at some point too. My old Nokia is about ready to be used for target practice
I'll probably be getting one in December when my vurrent Verizon contract is up. Returning to AT&T kind of makes my stomach turn, though.
I am but seeing as Verizon's reception sucks worse than AT&T's at my house, I kinda have to make a deal with the devil on this one. I think my house is lined with lead.
I love my iPhone as a consumer electronics/web device...I'm addicted to it. It drops call so frequently that I hate using it as a phone. On my 15 minute drive between work and home I hit 3 dead spots w/ zero voice (2 of the three also don't have data).
Jobs says that he has assurances from AT&T that they are going to improve the network.
....I'm out of contract on my 3G iphone and I don't know what I'm going to do moving forward. AT&T's data network isn't bad in my area (though when I drive out of the metro, it sucks) but as a phone & their voice network, it flat out sucks.
I'm not overly impressed with the Verizon data network that I've been seeing on blackberry devices but their voice network completely slays AT&T in my area.

Plus AT&T's 3G network in State College and Harrisburg seems to be pretty good.

In my hour commute there's 4 fairly large dead spots for AT&T so I rarely use my cell on the way to and from work. My friend has one of the Droid through Verizon and it's hit or miss if he can talk through those spots. He seems to have more luck, but at my house he has one bar of reception and I have 3....go me!
Where are you in PA? I'm in suburban metro philly (which amazes me how spotty coverages is around here).
I drove out to Lancaster last year using the iPhone for GPS Maps....loved it when I got off the turnpike at the Lancaster exit and didn't have any freaking network at all. Luckily I guessed correctly through the next several turns/roads until I picked up data network again.![]()
iPhones seem useful for businessy type people who need to email etc on the go. Why do "normal" people waste their money on this shit?![]()
