Official Pragestock 2010 Thread

My vacation request is in - this year, I'm taking the damn Monday after off, last year Monday was painful...

You think your Monday was bad?

I took Monday off, and Phil, Dave and I did a quick tour of the New River Gorge area.

Then we drank more.

Then, after they caught their flights, I still had 1/2 bottle of Buffalo Trace left over that I ended up getting knackered on for about 5 nights straight. :embarrassed:

Y'all make it sound fun.

It is fun, there can be music going on in 3 places at the same time. You can leave the noise of the electric jam room and go out on the porch and play acoustics :thu:

I won't be there, summer is my busiest time at work and I pretty much can't take any vacation time from July-Labor Day. I had to finagle to get one Friday off in July to go to New York.

it's about 60/40 in favor right now...it depends alot on how much *hidden money* is available at the time...

...is there a decently cheap motel in the area? I may drive down on friday and crash close by and finish the trip saturday morning...if I make it that is...

There's really not much terribly close by. There's a Best Western in Ripley, but if you've made it to Ripley, you're only 20 minutes away, so not much point getting a hotel.

Other than that, you'd probably pass through Morgantown, Clarksburg, and either Charleston or Parkersburg depending on whether you take 79 south to Charleston before hitting 77 north, or whether you take 79 south to Clarksburg, hit 50 west to Parkersburg, then hit 77 south to Ripley. Either way is about the same time-wise, though I think taking 50 might knock a few miles off the trip.

Morgantown is about 2 1/2 hours from my place. Parkersburg is about an hour, and Charleston is about 1/2 hour. All three have several fairly cheap chain motels.

I know I'm looking at about an 8 hour drive so I'd probably stop at an interstate motel and then come in saturday...

...I'll just let the GPS find me one...
