Ordered some new hardware!

If you would like a different exchange rate, just ask Mo to mess with the international banking market.

Got the chance to sit down with A (not the) 2012 LP for a while today as they had a lefty cherry burst one in stock when I popped in today.

This is the 9th one I've seen in the store (8 rightys) and once again the fit and finish was really good, for all the shit they've had over it Gibson seem to have responded on this model and sorted out their standards appropriately.

The BiLayered, compound radius fretboard was very nice, I tend to be limited in stuff I can just try out in stores but this was right up there for comfort, it's slightly slimmer than the 2008 a friend of mine owns I think but it felt very comfy.

Played through a blues junior III in store and had a good mess about with the push pulls and the various combinations, I know it's not an original idea but I love all the stuff theyve chucked in from the changes in tones I do see myself using the coil taps, phase switch and the blow switch often enough to be worth it I'm very much a knob twiddler with all my guitars anyway.

All in all it's a positive verdict from me so far, even this one example of the cherry burst , which I think looks a bit clowny sometimes was nice, really aggressive flaming with quite a narrow red round the outside looked great.

Im genuinely sold on this one.

Sounds cool. Hopefully you get a good one when the fireball thing arrives.

All I can say about Gibson's supposed QC issues is that I played every LP standard I could find in Florida (maybe 50) and I didn't find any QC problems. I was looking to BUY one, so I looked pretty carefully. Some were sonically better than others, but not one of them had any manufacturing issues that would have prevented me from buying them. I ended up finding a really sweet one online and ordered it. That one sounds as good as any I played, and has a super nice top and one piece back. I've been thrilled with it ever since. This is one of the 2008.5 era standards that predate the model you are looking at. I've certainly seen some pics of crappy QC issues on LPs, but I just didn't find any in my shopping.
