Pick a decade of music for your island.

Assuming I have total access to everything recorded in the period across all genres, I could be content with 1965-1975.
That gives me :
the later stages of the folk scene,
bluegrass's 2nd and 3rd wave, while the 1st gen pioneers were still active,
the blues revival,
the best of classic rock,
a period of great singer songwriters
a period of great innovation and diversity in jazz,
and the birth and flowering of electronic music.

1963-1973 gets you the bulk of your golden age of rock listening needs as well as peak glam and enough protopunk to get you through. Ace Stax and Motown cuts. And not a bad run from some country greats.

Motorik’s selection is also a strong contender.

I think yours is the most 'logical' bang-for-your-buck choice. (DevilisDill has another strong decade).

I took a 'split-build' because I really wanted to be able to hear things like 'My Boyfriend's Back', Del Shannon's 'Runaway', Buddy Holly, and Brill Building pop, then still have stuff like 'Don't Fear the Reaper', Rumours, Rocket to Russia, and Parallel Lines. Of course there's a huge hole in the middle of mine that misses all the best Stones records, 'Rover Deep, Mountain High',the Byrds, psychedelia etc.

I've answered twice now and it keeps deleting my thought process so fuck it:

1970-75: kinks bowie floyd

1995-2000 britpop, house and some frankly superb dance music you would all hate.

I don't think I could do this because any current era would exclude various classical music selections that I like and they cover too much time to try and include. That and I am constantly finding new (to me) stuff that I love once I've heard it.

I would be missing a lot of stuff no matter what decade I chose so I have decided to go with 85 -95
I love 80's synth pop and the birth of Seattle scene. I have my Smashing Pumpkins through Melon Collie. Some great rap, etc.

Is my wine guy on it?

Yes. Here he is:

By God, I think you're right! Seems in his down time he's become a monk. What song do you think he's playing in that photo then? I'm thinking 'St. Stephen'.

Very possible but I,m thinking Scarlet Begonias

That's a really fun one to play! In fact, I've got the guitar on my knee, so I've just gone through 'Scarlet Begonias' from memory after seeing your message to see if I remember all the parts. I like the little octaves melody at the beginning, and then there's another cool ascending thing later that starts on the low E and then ends up on the G 14th fret.
