My only musician child plays piano and synth so I don't need my guitars to outlast them. They probably will anyway and I never do any kind of preventative maintenance besides a good wipe down and climate control.

I haven't. Help!I'maRock turned me onto using woodwind bore oil years ago and it's worked fine for about $4 a bottle.

How exactly does it nourish a slice of dead tree?

All these claims of feeding, nourishing, hydrating, and so on by the various sellers of fretboard oils/preps are kinda absurd

I use lem oil but saw this on CSGuitars. I know about paste wax for nice furniture but I have not seen a paste type conditioner for fretboards. It made me curious particularly because the majority of the rosewood I have has lots of little crevices.

Thanks for chiming in.

I use linseed oil. At the rate I go through it, my current bottle will outlive me unless I live to be about 200.

I use Gorgomyte because it cleans the fretboard, conditions it, and polishes the frets at the same time. If it’s too pricey for you then use mineral oil from a drug store; lemon oil and some other fretboard conditioners are just scented mineral oil.

I would not use wax on rosewood because, as you already noted, it will glob up in every little pore and crevice. It might work for ebony though.
