Reel to Reel questions...

Yeah, if I can get it working, it'll be great as a conversation piece if nothing else. If I can find my old reel to reel master, even better. I haven't heard those four recordings in YEARS.

Good deal Prages. As for putting your master into it, I would wait. Try recording something first and confirm playback. Why? I wouldn't want your master to erase should something else be not working with the reel to reel.

yea......this ^^^

I just found my old master tape too.

Unfortunately, the master reel won't fit on my machine. I don't know if I should try to spool it onto one of the reels I have, or let it be. Even if I get it onto the reel, there's no telling whether the machine I have plays at the right speed or not. I've got three speeds to choose from, but still.

Spool it if you can. Of the three speeds offered, my guess would be 3 3/4 in/s is what your master will be at.

Looks like a strike out. Tape is running about 1/3 the speed it needs to be. :embarrassed: Plus, there must be a bad cap in it somewhere, because I keep having to start the tape spinning by hand.
