I'm firmly in the Rick Steves camp....there's something just zenlike. in the Stevves camp he has a tranquility (ness) to it all...a JJene sais quoi to it

Bourdain is all IN YOUR FACE...NYC style which can be fine but it's kinda hectic

Rick Steves is more about travel and sightseeing. Anthony Bourdain was all about discovering the food and the culture of the everyday life in different parts of the world.

Rick Steves' guide books for Europe are the best. Not filled with color pictures, but absolutely the best for insider information and nice little walks around historic neighborhoods.

But rickenvox is right, Steves' guide books are good. But if you go to any restaurant he recommends, you'll be surrounded by Americans.

I’m in the Bourdain camp. I’d much rather sneak off into the back streets to eat at great holes in the walls.

I would have loved to hang with Anthony and Rick Beato. If I was rich I would have arranged a hang out day with good food and music talk. Those two could have been related, get them together to see just how much alike they really are.

I like Bourdain. Interesting stuff, interesting food, his shows were well put together and filmed. My favorite cookbook is his work also.

I can get why he rubs some people the wrong way.

Rick Steve's camp, as his guides are about making the most of your time. Good food? In Ireland you have to be really trying to find crappy food.

I really enjoyed Anthony Bourdain's personality, but as a travelogue I always felt like he did that whole "pursuit of authenticity" thing that IMO is obsolete. We're all tourists now.

Rick Steve does a great job of sharing a location, but something about him says to me "if this guy were sitting beside me, I'd be putting those earbuds in pronto."
