I have a pair of these Mizuno Wave Rider 25 Special Osaka Edition that are pretty cool looking and pretty fun to do shortish runs, but not bouncy and supportive enough for my flat feet for long distances

i am currently lusting after the Asics Novablast 3

Asics are my standard, they fit very comfortably for me. Beyond that, though, I’ve never really swooned over limited edition shoes. Probably a good thing, as I have expensive tastes for too many other things.

flameencology will recognize all these since I wore them all at the pool house this past summer. Since neither of us run marathons anymore we went on daily hikes around his lake property with his best friend...then it was evening marathons ( marathons of Van Halen/metallica air guitar) at the poolhouse

I actually bought a pair of Mizuno Wave Kizuna 3's yesterday, they were dirt cheap (50 euro's) so hey ho. Tried them today and I quite like them, but then I really despise too squishy shoes so I'm very happy they're not that bouncy. I've tried several pairs of Hoka's (I had a neighbour who worked for them and could always get me some) and I absolutely hated everything about them.



And I've got a pair of Altra Lone Peaks, but I have them as hiking shoes. And my favourites for hiking are the Merell Trail Glove.

i have a pair of Columbia Facet 30s for hiking and they are super comfortable to wear and walk in the scottish hills. Plus they are waterproof. Not really suitable for running though

I’m also not a fan of overly cushy shoes and really hate the Hoya platform shoe trend . They remind me of KISS boots *edit* I did own a pair of Hoka trail shoes but got rid of them….they actually had tread separation on like my second run

Right now I’m wearing New Balance because they were the only thing that fit me the last time I went shopping. Everybody else had slightly increased the size of their shoes and my feet were slipping in the shoes a little. This is a problem because I need new shoes and I have discovered that New Balance funds crazy right wing politicians.

For general running I am a huge fan of Brooks. I admit a bias, I was sponsored by Brooks for 3 years, but now that I pay for my shoes again it is still Brooks. I need to get a new pair in the next month or so since my current pair are about shot. It will be these. Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22. Probably my 12th pair of Adrenalines.

For trail shoes, I have been using Hoka (Brooks trail shoes are not as good), but I need some new ones. I'll see what Hoka and Salomon offer right now and it will be one of those.

I don't use them for actual running, but use them for work because I walk around a hospital campus and have been hitting 10k steps a day on average lately; I have a pair of the Brooks that Denverdave posted above, but my favorites are Hokas. They seem to be more comfortable to me, and more importantly, last longer/are more durable. This is my current pair: Arahi 6. I've had Cliftons before and liked them as well.

I wear Hoka Bondi for refereeing soccer. I've had my current pair about a year, and will retire them at the end of the month. I only wear them for refereeing and put anywhere between two and five-hundred miles on a pair. I like them because they have good stability - important on grass fields - and cushioning and the last fits my wide, flat feet perfectly.

There is no best really just whatever works for you. Everyones got different feet and body needs so it's good there are many options.
Hokas came about because a decade or more ago there was a minimalist running shoe trend and Hoka was the polar opposite, they are responisble for all the current "platform/maximist" shoes and why some shoes have like 3 inch thick soles. Of course they will feel good most likely for most sedentry people ( read obese mericuh') or elderly people I think they probably gained popularity because marketing and sponsering select runners at high profile events most likely and so it goes. Also the huge cushy soles are good for heal strike runners and I think that's part of the marketing with the trend of the "rocking chair rail look of a lot of "maximist shoes have now.
Probably after 2 inches of foam nobody can honestly tell the difference in "cush" but like pick up trucks and supersize sodas more is perceived better in mericuh
I don't hate them but not a fan I did own a pair of Hoka Clifton when i trail ran andI used em a bit for hiking besides the fact that the outsole didn't last in southern Arizona rock country ( too much exsposed foam imo) the rubber tread came apart where it attached to the foam on probably the second use...Never had that happen on any other shoe. also they had too much arch support for my liking....but again , there is no best just what works for you.

My dad swear by them, but I really can't stand the weird "floaty" feeling. From the several pairs I got to try they seem like well made shoes and all, but that amount of cushioning and the way your feet don't have a solid platform anywhere is just horrendous for my feet and the way I walk.

Their trail shoes had some very good stability despite the large sole. I need a more stable shoe and I really liked mine.

Like @Denverdave said, they have other models. I have a trail shoe from them that does not have the floaty feel at all, very rigid sole and great for hiking. I don't wear them very often because I dig the floaty feel.

I'm wearing a pair of those exact Adrenaline GTS 22's right now! They're fantastic!

that reminds me I used to own a pair of Brooks Green Ghosts and I loved them. Sadly, they got discontinued
