The stupid injury thread.

Well not stupid but the only time I hurt my back was 2 years ago. I got out of bed and it went on me. Never got better although it no longer is so painful that I can't do anything I want. But I only have to bend at the waist to be reminded that it's still there. Hence I've been really careful when I got back to the gym and generally stuck with machines rather than free weights. At slightly over 2/3 of a century it's all going downhill anyways. On the plus side I did manage to slam into a car door on my bike without any significant injury a couple of weeks ago

I dropped a truck battery on my foot at work one day...it hurt...

I could put this in the bike thread but since I remembered this one I'll put it here. Not really a stupid injury but bad luck. Out for a ride today and was cruising feeling good, went through a shaded area and there was a loud kind of bang and I felt something hit my leg. I thought it was a rock and was hoping I didn't have a flat so I looked down and saw blood pouring out of my shin . I stopped immediately and put pressure on the cut and looked back to see a bunch of broken glass on the road (thanks asshole who tossed a modelo bottle out of their window). After about 10 minutes it was still bleeding bad if I didn't put pressure on it so I thought about what my best options were and called 911. After that some good folks stopped and the young lady was a nurse so they helped until the ambulance came. They were able to get the bleeding stopped and I was actually able to ride back home. So now I have one white sock and one red one. I feel a bit bad for calling 911 but at the time I wasn't sure if I could get the bleeding stopped. So that's 2 911 calls in the last month for bike related issues. I'm on a roll :ack::gah:

Ouch! Don't pull a hat trick. Bike incident mojo!

I took a spill on Friday on Tequepis trail near Lake Cachuma. Everything was going well until it wasn't. I flipped the bike on the decent and separated my clavicle. Grade 3. Not the worst, but a complete tendon sever. I'm in a sling. Probably not advised, but I still caught and released 2 bass on Saturday. I also caught a crappie fish. A fellow fisherman took it to eat.
I took a crappie after Tequepis (pronounced take a piss). That joke angered the spirit of the mountain.

An extremely kind trail runner abandoned her run to walk my bike the 3 miles to the trail head where I had my wife pick me up. That saved me over an hour of painfully walking my bike down the mountain. I probably shouldn't have been riding solo. Her help was truly appreciated.

Ouch and mojo. Separated shoulders are no fun. But it's nice to know that there are still good people out there :thu:
