Between the 2,571,042 and 1/2 different colors of materials for strat pickguards…

I think I stared at my new PRS for 10 minutes this morning before finally changing the switch tip to black.

It could go either way. The binding and pickup rings are cream, but the body is black.

That’s why I stared at it. My brain says the cream is right, but my eyes told me that the cream tip sticks out too much… so when I put the black tip on, the controls now don’t draw as much attention.

I prefer cream. But when I look at that guitar it’s the wood I’m going to look at, so the switch tip isn’t a big deal. Just keep it for when you sell the guitar.

Most of my guitars are banged up, with at least one ding, and probably not the greatest colors, but I regularly obsess over setups and action and string gauge and measuring stuff with feeler gauges and digital calipers and strobe tuners and changing string heights by thousandths of an inch to try to get the perfect balance between tone and playing ease for my busted up hands. Then the weather changes before the next gig, and here we go again.
