Weekend Wrapup

Punchy

Slacker Supreme
Hey y'all, it was a busy weekend. Felt busy, anyway.

Last couple of years, and next year at least, we've had reservations at one of the local RV parks for their big halloween event. They have stuff going on all weekend, but Saturday night they shut it down to all car traffic for a couple of hours and do a $5 per family donation (for Easter Seals) to trick or treat all the sites. Anyway, this was the first year we did it without a caretaker on the property, so one of us was driving a half hour back and forth 3x a day to make sure the animals were fed/watered/let out/put in. Glad it's over, even if I'm not glad tomorrow is monday lol.

Think I'm over my effect prototyping mania for the moment, I don't have a good workspace to do it anyway. Might do something silly like buy the new JHS Pherb though. Got a little bit of old birthday money burning a hole in my pocket and that might be a good way to alleviate the flames. The other option I was looking at was maybe the TC Electronics Skysurfer reverb and either the Prophet or Echobrain delay, although I don't know the pros and cons of analog vs digital delay, and I like the JHS vibe.

I was just checking stock at my local shop for the Pherb. Not yet, but orderable.

I had a list of things to do this weekend but took a lot of naps instead.
I did goof around a bit with a guitar through the TONEX today.

I don't really have a local shop, at least nothing closer than about an hour drive. Naps are good. I did play my acoustic a little bit over at the RV park yesterday.

Friday night I went to the open mic at Lost Towns Brewing; I haven't been in ages as the attendees seem more interested In having loud conversations than listening to music. I pulled out my Om Girl Glarry Tele and dusted off Come into the Warm, a song I wrote ten years ago but never played live. I will post video later. Luckily I went on earlier, before the beer increased the volume of conversations. Saturday we visited my sister-in-law. She has mellowed with age and it was a pleasant visit.

Sunday morning I led the service at my church. I gave a talk at Carol's church last Sunday and planned to repeat the talk yesterday. However, I woke Saturday morning with a vision in my head that I needed to rewrite most of it, which I did Saturday night. I was happy to realize that was the right move; I was pleased with the outcome. From there I went to Joy of Beans to take down the art show. I learned that someone bought another picture Saturday, one of my favorites. That made three sales. The fact that people liked my paintings enough to give them a place in their home makes me happy and boosts my ability to see myself as a "real artist." I went home and had a nap.

We spent the last week up in a cottage on a harbor (sorry if you missed any SDotDs) for some much needed downtime.

Seems like all we did was eat out.

Drove up to Fisher’s in Montross Friday. Got a loaded baked potatoes then took some back roads home. Saturday, my lady felt like having catfish so, drove back to Montross for that at a little hole in the wall Italian place, Angelo’s. Took the same twisty roads home. Sunday, up early ate breakfast in Warsaw at Egg-Spresso. She drove to Warrenton for a farewell party. Later, at dark we went to a pumpkin lighting trail thing that raises money for Menokin History Museum.

Played guitar, walked dogs. Saturday, while she was at he friends celibration I changed up stuff on my pedalboard and added a 3rd amp. So I sit in the middle of a triangle of amps. Plugged in the guitar and nothing. Fiddled with this and that, nothing. Getting a little freaked. I had just put this harness in the guitar a month ago. I soldered everything but the connections to the input jack. Finally I tried another guitar and it was live. Found a loose wire in the input jack and fixed it.

Friday Mrs jbj was out in town so I met up with a pal for a few drinks then headed home to watch the celebrity traitors.

Saturday, storm blew in. I took my time getting ready for the football and sadly / intentionally was late for my bus so watched it in the pub instead while it rained cats and dogs outside. Good result but it looked absolutely miserable in the stadium. Couple of beers with the guys from the bus when they returned then home for dinner. I put an aluminium pergola up over summer, tried to storm proof it but it's been absolutely battered. It's fixable but that's the first serious wind we've had and it didn't stand up well so I dint know if it'll see out the winter

Sunday was the wedding of a girl I went to school with. Mrs jbj is now friends with her hence the invite.I drove. We have a common friend group of really good pals who have kids that we don't see enough so it was great to catch up with everyone. I've not laughed so much and so hard for a long time even if I was the only sober one in the company.

Lots of randoms from school in attendance too I've not seen for 20+ years. We were seated next to a girl who once ran around our senior common room waving a big purple dildo about. She denied all knowledge but a quick check in with the old pals group chat confirmed this did happen. I went to a bit of a mad school and every now and then someone will post "this is going to sound mental but does anyone ever remember (insert mental event) happening at school? Some we never get to the bottom of fir certain but Clare and the purple dildo = myth confirmed
