This weekend was great! We went to Wright-Patterson Airforce Base to complete our driving courses for class.
Friday- Packed and left home about 7:30pm. Got to Dayton, checked into our hotel and went to dinner at Texas Roadhouse. Wasn't really hungry but the Margeritas went down nice.
Saturday- Got up early and found my way to the parking lot where we were meeting. They asked for volunteers to go get the rental cars. I didn't go so the rest of us loaded up and went on base to start setting up the cones for the courses. Holy crap that was a lot of cones! The cars finally showed up at about 9:30 so we were split into groups and assigned to cars. We had a bunch of sedans. Altimas, Impalas, Accords, etc. We also had two HHRs which I was waiting for someone to tip over. My group... we had a Charger.

It was a V-6 but it still had some decent kick and satellite radio which we blared as load as it would go. We found the 80s and 90s pop stations and it was all bad after that. There were 10 courses set up. We made it through all but one the first day. At one point we were doing the "star" course. You have to do a five point turn inside of a very small circle without hitting cones. Our instructor was outside of the car talking to another instructor. My group had gotten out of the car to stretch their legs and take a smoke break. I was in the car by myself and I was unsupervised so OF COURSE it was time for donuts in reverse.

My instructor started to yell at me to stop but she could barely get it out because she was laughing so hard. Those things are frowned upon so she had to tell me to stop but she thought it was funny. One of the girls I work with said she looked over and the Charger was doing donuts and she said she just knew it was me.
After class I went back to the room and showered and drove back into Columbus for my best friend's bachelorette party. I had a long drive so I didn't drink. Basically, I babysat drunk chicks for a few hours and then drove back to Dayton. Got about two hours of sleep.
Sunday- We had finished all but one of the courses but another team had beat us to it. So for the first hour we were playing on whatever courses were empty going as fast as we could. There's a weaving course were you have to stutter steer. We were just weaving through those cones as fast as we could. Our car was covered in mud and junk from all the puddles let from the rain the night before. Finally, we finished the last course and it was only 9:30. We played for another half an hour but that got a little old after awhile. There is an Airforce Museum on the base. Detached from the museum is a hanger were they keep retired Air Force Ones and experimental aircraft. If you go to the museum, you have the option to take a shuttle out and go through the hanger. That hanger happened to be very close to where we were driving so we snuck off and walked through there. We were hoping to have time to sneak off to the actual museum but that didn't happen. After lunch, all of the courses were cleaned up and they set up the first of two big courses. The first one scared the crap out of me and I never want to do something like that again. You have to barrel towards AN INSTRUCTOR at 35 mph. At the last possible second they drop an arm and that's the direction you have to turn without braking. Once you turn you can start braking and then you have to turn back to the center where ANOTHER INSTRUCTOR was standing and if you didn't stop in time you would hit him. Driving a car at a person is a incredibly frightening experience. My heart raced for a good hour after I had finished. The second course was a long, narrow runway were you had to get up to at least 35 mph. There was a right and a left turn. You had to slow up and turn one way, get back in line and then turn the other. Most teams sped up, slowed down to a crawl and turned. Our team had been playing at high rates of speed all day so we were the only four people to go screeching into the turns full speed, stop perfectly and not hit any cones.

After we finished that last event, the renters took the cars back and the rest of us went home. All I remember is laying down in bed and then my alarm going off this morning. I didn't even hear the BF leave for work last night.
Another long week of work and school to look forward to.
