Weekend Wrapup

My older brother and his wife were in town from Rhode Island so we spent the whole weekend with them

Friday - hung out with the family and then played in Dana Point - had a pretty good show although the borrowed powered hot spot I was singing through sounded like a CD radio with a kicked in speaker. It was the first time my kids had ever come to a gig and only the second time my brother had seen me play so it was a fun night. I also had a ton of students show up.

Saturday - worked and then family time

Sunday - family time and ate. all day.

Friday - worked. Friday night - worked.
Saturday - worked. Saturday night - worked.
Sunday - worked from 10 to 2. Came home took nap. Worked 5 to 9.

Bleh.

Damn, sounds like my weekend. 75th weekend in a row working nights. :annoyed:  :annoyed:

Mrs. Tig had to go to the ER for extreme back pain Sunday. She can handle more pain than anyone I've ever known, so it had to be bad. She's home on a nice dose of Dilodin, which makes morphine look like baby aspirin.
This is all likely secondary to the knee which gets replaced in about a month. This will be her 3rd orthopedic surgery this year, poor woman.

I was off all of last week. Every summer, the school district completely shuts down for a week. I did a ton of work at my parents house, then yesterday, discovered our main bathroom shower is leaking pretty bad. I couldn't have found that last weekend, so I would have all week to work on it

Comic-Con...

It was a good weekend.
*is envious*

spent the weekend hanging out here, listening to Johnny Cash and Hank Williams.
did a bunch of re-arranging of the toy room and my bedroom as well.
finally found my missing i.d., so I'm one step closer to getting my 1st drivers license.
had to take a file cabinet apart to locate it.
also found a pretty cool bunch of lyrics I'd written a ways back.

I need to win a lottery or somethin'.

can't be king of the world if yer slave to the grind.

Food and booze highlights:

Friday: worked on my new brewery, consumed some makers mark 46

Saturday: made some really good black cherry naga jalokia beef jerky. Finished off the last beer from a 4 pack of old raspy & had a few SA latitude 48s

Sunday: smoked a Brisket for about 5 and a half hours. Gin and tonic were prescribed in the afternoon

Well as you can imagine, my weekend was a weird one. :embarrassed:

Most of Friday spent in front of the telly and online trying to find out what was happening in Oslo and at Utøya.
So obviously the weekend off to a horrible start...

Saturday - went to a combined Pirate birthday/sending off party with lots of close friends. One of my best friends moving to Oslo for a new job, and my 3rd cousin had her birthday. Despite circumstances, we were able to have a really good, fun time. Good getting a little break from the tragedy. :)

Sunday mostly spent glued to the couch, doing as little as possible. :embarrassed:
Finished the day watching the Copa America final.

Glad you could find a fun break, Dexter. Even in the midst of horror we need to hold on to hope and joy. My continued thoughts to all over there.

My weekend was not too shabby:

Friday - Worked till 5, then mostly home chilling out.

Saturday - Worked at my office from 11:embarrassed:0 - 3:embarrassed:0, then went home and started packing the car. Went to West Boylston for my second annual performance at Pinecroft Dairy's second annual Summer Music Festival. Played for two hours, doing some songs from the new CD, some of my other originals, some traditional tunes, and some rare covers, including Ring of Fire with harmonica substituting for Mariachi horns. The crowd was appreciative, one person said she loved hearing the stories about the songs. At the end of the night, I got paid $100. Not too shabby.

Sunday - Chilled in the morning. Then I was able to get Carol to record her four contributions to the new CD. All of the recording is now done and Andy is doing great stuff with the mixing.

Once again, mojo and thoughts to our Norwegian brothers and sisters.

Thanks Gary :)

Yeah, it's really important to get off the telly and internet every once in a while and get on with living.

Just saw that they've decided to not cancel the Norway Cup tournament that's starting in a few days as well (the world's largest kid's soccer tournament) - great signal and good decision imo. :)

I agree. If you let things like this bring life to a standstill you are giving the ignorant power. Mourn the loss but keep on living - that is the victory.

Friday - Karaoked 8-12
Saturday - Karaoked 8-12
Sunday - Played Black Ops, woodshed new tunes the band is learning, went for a few drinks with my parents.

Should have spent most of the weekend getting the house ready for Pragestock.

What we did instead was:

Saturday:
1: Bought a new weed whacker. Spent twice as much as I wanted to spend, but damn, it's a nice weed whacker.
2: I mowed the lawn while Mrs. P did some cleaning inside. I guess that counts as Pragestock preparation.
3: Watched some TV.

Sunday:
1: We went for a nice motorcycle ride in the morning, that ended up lasting until 4:embarrassed:0 in the evening. :embarrassed: Got some Frisbee Golf discs and played at Cedar Lakes for a few hours. Then Chilled out at home.

That means that this week, in the mornings and evenings, I'll be busting my butt getting ready for Pragestock. Spent an hour or so this morning working on the kitchen and living room. Hopefully this evening I'll actually have a space cleared out for the jamming, and then we can move on to getting the spare rooms ready for guests. I'll need to get the attic cleaned up too, but that's mostly just a matter of putting all my guitars and accessories in their place. Once I start moving stuff to the living room, it'll go pretty quickly in the attic.

Oh, also, while we were at the store buying the weed whacker, there was a guy there trying to rent a push mower without any luck, so Mrs. P offered ours to him. He's doing some work at the local National Guard that's about to shut down. He followed us home and gave us his name and phone number. Said he'd buy me some Yuengling for our generosity. :embarrassed:

+1

Actually, something I forgot to mention in my OP was that we had a strange moment with the folks across the street. The home owners daughter came across the street last week and gave me an invitation to her birthday party for our kids (which I think is her 8th or 9th). Even with our issues with her dad and the other guys that live there we didn't want to be mean to her so my wife got a gift and for a surreal hour or so after I got off work took my kids across the street to play in the inflatable pool that was in their front yard. We had to leave since my brother was here and we had planned to spend time with him but byt the time we had gotten back from dinner all of the adults were plastered and either doing backflips off of the inflatable slide into the pool or arguing with each other.

The little girl told my wife that "the bank had bought daddys house so we''re moving soon".

What a mess :(
