Weekend Wrapup

A last minute change in work schedules put me at work instead of having the weekend off, so that shot pretty much all of my ambitions down in flames...

Saturday - work was insane, left at 2pm completely used up...stopped and did the grocery shopping and other errands on the way home, then puttered with domestic stuff...

Sunday - pretty much a total veg-out...read a book, watched shitty TV and YouTube videos, finished mastering my June Mixing Made Easy mixing contest entry, watched some NASCAR and SuperCross, moderated Rhett Shull's live stream...can't rememebr much else of note...

I have things that need to get done...I need to clean out my shed and get rid of some stuff, I need to start going through my guitars, amps, and pedals and decide what to move out (since my hands aren't really working too good any more), I have @Danhedonia 's Jazzmaster disassembled on my workbench and I HAVE to get that done...but I'm so completely burned out I'm having a hard time finding the drive and energy necessary...

Saturday: walked over to the beach to watch the spacex launch. Work around the house and some beach. It was very overcast for the launch and couldn’t see much.

Sunday, beach time and workaround the house.
So all in all, not much.

Friday - removed the drywall from the basement bathroom exterior wall. The rest of the room was horrid faux wood panelling. I was a bit happy that we had electrical issues that prompted me to rip it all down to trace wiring.

I’ve got plumbing parts to pick up today. I’ll grab some insulation and vapour barrier too. Then make plans.

Saturday - I forget. It might have been the above and a Friday is forgotten. Or garage tidying up. That happened recently. Twice. National gin day, though. So, I had a gin and tonic.

Sunday - fired up the smoker and made this recipe: https://howtobbqright.com/2017/04/17/pork-belly-burnt-ends/
I used different rub. So they didn’t come out red-hued, but they were delicious. I might try a higher temperature next time.
I had to shuffle the cars around the driveway to make room for the pool repair folks. So, I took the New Yorker for a little run and picked my daughter up from work.
National bourbon day. So, I had a Maker’s Mark.

Friday - Morning run. Went grocery shopping. Puttered around the house a bit. Sent out one job application. Studied a bit for a certification test I am taking this evening (Monday). Resume building stuff.

Saturday - Morning run. Put in about 6 hours studying today. Practiced guitar some and wasted more time watching Time Pierce and Rick Beato videos.

Sunday - Slept like shite so no run this morning. Another 3 or 4 hours studying. Went to church in the evening.

Did a Zoom whiskey tasting on Sat. evening with a couple college buddies. We usually get together every summer, but since that's out of the question right now we went with this instead. I shipped them some sampler packs of rye whiskeys beforehand. Then we drank and talked for damn near 5 hours. It was cool.
Sun. was a big yard work day. The whole family was outside beautifying our surroundings. Then... naps!

I didn't do much this weekend...seemed like all my plans just didn't pan out. Made a bunch of food and changed the oil in my taco. This week I'll do the Subaru.

I flew to Austin to help with a kitchen redesign at one of our facilities out there. The Orlando airport was so dead it felt like I had broken in when they were closed. Dallas, however, was a total shit show. TONS of people. I got bumped to Business Class though so that was nice. Masks are required on American so that was also good. That was Wednesday and Thursday. Friday I went to bed at 7pm and woke up at 8am on Saturday. I was just exhausted from the flying and working. Saturday we did a family get together for my niece's high school graduation. Sunday, pretty much nothing.

I felt poorly this weekend, and my voice was shot, so I wasn't able to get around to recording any backup vocals for @Gary Blanchard. So far, I seem to be feeling better. Damn allergies...

Fri. Bought a new lens, bought a new camera. Went to the lake and had a flat tire. Have to wait until Wal-Mart TLE re-opens to get a new one.

Sat. Managed to get in the park before they closed due to no parking. Went back in the park in the late afternoon with my wife after some of the crowd had cleared. Found these guys playing in the road.

Sun. Hustled out to the lake before the crowds got to big. People watched while listening to a podcast. Left and passed the barricades shutting down the park. Later went to Mirror Lake to avoid the crowds. Went to Starbucks. Got the wrong drink. Got refunded and was told to keep it, then they made mine right for free. Went to get one drink, left with 2 and paid for none. Yea.
