When watching a gear review, things that automatically make you…..

I don’t think a Dual Showman will overdrive at all (at least without mods). When I saw Dick Dale he had the volume on his all the way up and it was still clean. That tone was glorious, totally worth the tinnitus.
Exactly, thus the need for an overdrive pedal because just turning it up won't work.

What irks me are demos of amps or pedals where they don't even bother trying to get a low gain sound. They do pristine clean and then mid to high gain.

I still have no idea if the Blackstar Debut series amps pull of a barely driven, clean/compressed until you dig in sound.

I almost never watch these.

Maybe if something has come up on fb marketplace or craigslist that seems a great deal and I am seriously considering but have no experience with. It's literally been several years since I've seen a gear demo viddy.

The big one is the guys that can't be bothered to tune their fucking guitar. I mean, seriously.

That said I have a few go to channels that I will check first, and usually one or two of them will more often than not have a review/demo of the thing I'm looking for.

Unknown unknowns.

Like when years ago Vox demoed their Custom Classic amps using a new Vox guitar with their own pickups and some funky switching. How were we supposed to know what it would sound like with a vanilla Tele, Strat or Lester? Same with some custom shop booteek guitar through a hand-soldered booteek pedal into a handwired booteek amp.
