Your Tele bridge pickup of choice...

Honkridge

UNACCEPTABLE!
I'm itching to try out a way overwound tele pup...like 10k or even more. Have you any experience with that sort of thing? I've only messed with lower output bridge pickups...

School me

The GFS repo 60s hot alnico is a pretty darn good pickup for the money. I eventually replaced it w/ a BG A3 rockwind set neck & bridge but honestly, the GFS was pretty darn close.

I'm not a big fan of super overwound single coils. At that point, I would prefer a (full-size) humbucker to keep it from getting too piercing.

When looking at Tele bridge PUs though, don't be fooled by 43awg vs 42awg, a 10KΩ 43 awg pickup is probably no hotter than a 6.5-7KΩ 42awg pickup, it takes a lot more windings of the thinner wire to build up output.

Lollar Special T series is a little less at 8k but is an exceptionally versatile and kick ass sounding pickup.

This is what I put in my Tele. They sound quite a bit like the originals, but with enough boost to the output that I don’t need to change my amp settings when I plug in the Tele. They are smooth and spacious. No complaints at all.
