I just bought an amp kit - Now a build thread

I’ve never done a Stew Mac kit, but I did build a Weber kit years ago. The Weber was pretty straight forward.

Nope. I tried a pedal once, I can solder but, I couldn't see which tiny component was which and gave up.

Saw the thread title, didn't bother to see who started it, and clicked on it. I was expecting somebody British and that's the way they talk. Didn't dawn on me that someone was building a kit.

I've always wanted to do a kit amp. Unfortunately I no longer have the time nor space any more.

The kit arrived today. I cleaned my work space and did a parts inventory. All the parts are there. The instructions look clear. I think this will be okay as long as I go slow and triple check everything. I expected Heyboer transformers with the kit. They sent me Mojo transformers. The speaker is a Jensen C12N. I will be using a Weber Signature Alnico 12. I strongly suspect that this is a rebranded Mojotone kit.

Yeah, that was the word - the kits are supplied by Mojotone.

Mojotone transformers are Heyboer.

Heyboer is an OEM manufacturer, but are sold retail through Mojotone.

IIRC, there is something you need to change per the StewMac instructions. Modern safety rules dictate the Hot from the power cord so go to the fuse first, then the power switch, then the PT; the Neutral should go straight the other side of the PT.

It sounds like you built one of these before. Thanks for the tip.

Owned a real deal 1960 for a long time, when I sold it, I built a clone (sourced the parts myself, but I highly recommend a kit). I’ll have to find the build thread.

I started building it last night,

I started by prepping the cabinet:
