Anyone using YouTube TV? We are about a month away from our cable contract running out and I was hoping to "cut the cable" this time. From what I can tell it looks pretty good. Easy enough to use, DVR, decent selection etc. Just wondering if anyone is using it or has suggestions for other streaming services.

We have Netflix and Amazon prime and will likely keep them so I'm really looking for a cable (actually DirectTV) replacement. I want to save the money but at the same time they made me so mad last time around I swore I would dump them.
 
I haven't, but I use Hulu Live TV and it's super easy and works great. The only live tv I watch are sports and it streams them flawlessly. There have been a few times where I was streaming the Caps in the basement while my daughter was streaming it in the living room and still no issues.
 
We have it. I tried the Hulu Live before this and I like YouTube much better. I like the interface better and it gives you an unlimited DVR. We had Dish before and YouTube is like half the price and we have pretty much all the channels we actually watched and dumped the million home shopping channels.

has the channels I want plus locals. Good DVR, reasonable price. No complaints so far.
 
If you are looking for sports tv I would say just get a package from the sport...MLB, NFL or whatever. If you watch a local team you'll need a cable or "live youtube/Hulu thing" probably. Otherwise you already have Netflix and Amazon Prime. . If youy want tv shows get Hulu and yer set. I'd say you don't really need a :ive Hulu or Live Youtube other than for the reason listed above,

Are DVRs still a thing? Don't most networks have some kind of streaming where you can watch the last 5 episode? And if you are more than 5 episodes back, you might as well wait for the whole season to end up on Netflix.

More often than not I end up using to DVR to record sports that I'm going to miss the beginning of. But we do record some shows.

or Hulu...hell for $6.95 a month you can get the basic Hulu with limited ads...It's really on;y a couple ads, not bad if all yer doing is subscribing to watch a couple network shows past or present.

Let's say yer a big baseball fan like myself. for 125 perseason i can get all the games I want and when they start early before I get home I just start fr4om the first inning...I can also pick whether i want home or away announcers, ff, rw pause, etc.

It's a cloud storage device, but you basically get every episode that has already aired.

I know, I'm just kidding.

I use it mostly as a bookmark. If I'm flipping through the guide and see something is on that looks interesting I'll record it, because by the time I get time to watch it I'll have forgotten about it and won't think to find a stream of it. For whole series I usually end up watching on Hulu.

I haven't used cable for years now, so I have forgotten all about the guide.
 
I'm still on satellite tv. DirecTV is getting so expensive. I'm ready to quit. I'm hooked on the DVR. I definately need a way to watch Supercross, Motocross, and MotoGp racing. DirecTV has that on MSNBC

I've been thinking about it. We haven't had cable (TV) for a few years now and there's a lot of stuff I therefore can't watch anymore or have to wait a year for it to hit Netflix, Hulu, etc. It's really hard to pin down the best option between all the various offerings. So far YouTube looks like probably the best choice.

I just shelled out 80 bucks just to watch the 2020 F1 Season alone. You start adding up all of the a la crate stuff and it quickly surpasses the cost of stupid cable.
 
Thanks all. I'm at a point where I honestly don't care much for tv but my wife wants certain channels. I want sports primarily because I just put a tv by the pool to watch college games. I'm going to give it a look. I think the main thing is if it gets the shows she wants to see. I basically will watch outdoor stuff, I love Barnwood Builders and American Pickers, and some cooking/food stuff. Ball games on the weekend if I need an excuse not to do anything.

I'm guessing they offer a trial so maybe I'll give that a go.

I see it like the differences in how people arrange their email. I use folders and some people just use search. I use DVR almost like a folder system.
