Ok. Wine or ween?

WEEN.

I've had a lifetime of people telling me my name is pronounced wrong. Once I told a person "It's only spelled "Wein", its actually pronounced "go-fuck-yourself".

WHAT!

my whole world has shattered.

Mark Ween Guitar Lessons?!? O, the humanity...

My kids are finally getting a taste of the great injustice.

I told this story in another thread but my wife's maiden name is "Vasilj" with the silent "j"(they are Yugoslavian). When we were married the joke was that she should hyphenate her last name and be "Christine Vasilj-Wein".

:embarrassed:

i remember in German class I before E sounds like E
E before I sounds like I

its like calling Einstein
Eensteen

I have a french last name and nobody can say it correct. Even my french teacher said it wrong. her excuse she said she assumed my family americanized it. no bitch say it through your nose!

i had to call a doctor wagner one time and i talked to his secretary I said, "is dr vogner there?"
she said, "its wAgner" "and no hes out." so i said ok can i leave a message for dr vogner? lol she got mad and said "its WAgner!" lol

I feel for you. My last name has 13 letters and contains a number of letter clusters that make perfect sense in West Frisian, but make little sense in English. You should see the attempts I get when people get to the 'ghuis' part in the middle of my name. Correct pronunciation makes the g silent, and the i modifies the U to a long U sound like in tube, and the S becomes a very hard S, but not quite a Z sound.

Pretty bizarre that it simply translate to 'son of the counting house'.

Funny that Wein is German for wine, but is pronounced WEEN. I would guess the Germanic pronunciation would sound more like VINE.

Thanks. Needed to know because I'll be playing a song from the album today on the little college radio station. They're desperate for live people in the summer when the students go home, so the suckers gave me a slot.
