I had a Squier Affinity made in 2002 that needed a lot of fret work. I sold it for a loss and regretted it instantly. Loved the tone so much I bought another in the spring and this one was perfect right form the start! I heard that in 2010 they upped their QC and I have to say I totally agree...
the X has an Alder body whereas the CVC I think is pine. For tone Alder is a better tone wood. I've played and set up an X for a coworker and I liked it a lot. It needs a bleed cap and may need new pickups but that depends on your tone preference but spending $3.00 for a bleed cap will amaze you!

thanks! I am not happy with my tone or accuracy on the high E string with pull off and hammer ons though and usually try to transpose this to the B and G strings which makes it interesting.
