I think this stand holding my Allen Encore is probably what I'm looking for to put on top of two Auralex Grammas I've had for about 10 years now:

But, it's $100.

This is $7

Decisions, decisions...

If I could just find milk crates with an "Ozite covering ", the decision would be easy.

There are quite decent amp stands about at the mid-point price between a milk crate and a fancy $100 stand.

Stage or “studio”?

Stage: go with the stand.
Studio: buy a LAX shelf from ikea but just build the box. Exclude the shelves.
Add casters if you like.
I have two. One has my JRC2112R in it and my Fender Mustang III (shut up) on top.
The other has an old A/V speaker cab inside and my Trinity Tramp on top, plus a desk lamp, a Traynor Quarterhorse and some gadgets.
I added some 3M on command hooks on the sides for cables. I also stuck a power bar on the side of one.

I use an On Stage RS7500 - tilt back, and has a mount for a boom arm if you need to mike. Works great, folds up small. $33 at Amazon, without the boom. Boom is $21 if you want to add it.

Milk crate. I have the stand @Guitar Heel posted and I use it at home, but when I gigged and if I ever gigged again, it would be a milk crate. I used the milk crate to carry accessories to the gig, cable, notebook, tape, extra batteries, my dirt pedal.

I still have that tuner!

This one is not my original one. I have no idea what happened to the original, but it was the one where all the lights were red. In college, my bass player was an electronic engineering major, so he decided to replace the key lights with ones of different colors. This was years before Sabine started doing it. I wish I still had the one he modded.

The thing to remember about actual milk crates is they're designed to slide around and things very easily slide off of them. If you don't take any measure to secure the amp from moving around on it, there's a good chance that if bumped or the stage vibrates, your amp may slip off.

Ask me how I know :)

I never thought about that, but in all the times I've used them, I never had that problem.

I have a pretty nice amp stand for my Carr , $50 or so. Definitely worth it. Dunno if Id pay $100 for the one in the OP tho.
Also have a little Crate VC 2110r sitting on a milk crate. Being a small amp it fits on the milk crate pretty securely.
The homemade 1-15 cab the Bassman head sits on, I built with a slant front.
