Book jam - what you all reading?

I just bought The Lies Of Locke Lamora for my kindle, $1.99. I'll start reading it when I finish this Longmire book I'm reading (book #8 ).

The Lies Of Locke Lamora sounds interesting, especially when authors like Patrick Rothfuss, Mark Lawrence, Rick Riordan, and other all give it high praise over on the Goodreads site.

I am reading The Godfather.
I have seen the movie dozens of times. Giving the book a shot.

I just finished The Snowman, which is a murder mystery, and I totally loved it. It was ridiculous, sure, but so much fun. Looks like a movie is in the works as well.

I begrudge him the cost. It should've been a $10 book at most, and even that's stretching it. I'll read it some day, when I find a cheap used one.
it's short, and quite different from the novels, but I kinda almost liked it more.

harrowing.

very well researched, very detailed story. interesting conclusions.

On Beauty (Zadie Smith)

I've been on a goofy cheesy post apocalyptic and/or sci fi kick for a while now, so it's nice to remember how pleasurable it is to read an actually well written novel. I read white teeth a long time ago and enjoyed it and then somehow forgot about Zadie Smith.

1st two books are good. The author had some personal issues that colored the 3rd book's tone.

I tried the Bible again. I got to tje second creation story and dropped the book and started reading The Wizard of Oz. Much more believable.

Old Testament is fun mythology. Especially the Pentateuch. I wish that R. Crumb had continued to illustrate past Genesis.

NT is some lame-ass shit.

Just finished Dawn of Wonder: The Awakening.
I get and like series books, but at least have a climax and resolution in each book, THEN set up the next one.
It was good, no doubt, but a little bit of a let down.

There are numerous repeat stories with different details or endings in the Pentateuch. It's because the Northern and Southern kingdoms of Israel kept their own records of stories and when it was all put together no one would have thought to straighten out the contradictions. They probably didn't see them as contradictory, as Jews view scripture much different than fundamentalist Christians.
