I wonder what they'll be worth in another 15-20 years. I'm guessing somewhat less. As us Boomers & Gen Xs die off, those instruments won't have much value for Millenials and generations that follow. I'll bet most of them will have no idea who Gilmour is, or what The Wolf is, etc. The ridiculously overpriced collectibles will be replaced with something else of that generation's nostalgia. If I make it to 90, I'll pick up the Black Strat for a few grand, LOL.

I think that there will always be billionaire music nerds looking to own some amazing music gear. Just like there are rich Americans who buy insane instruments and give them to the Met or the Smithsonian there will be rich Arabs, Russians, and Chinese who want to put expensive stuff in their expensive museums just to show off how rich they are.

Yep, pretty much. Seems like human nature to collect things. The expense of one's collections is limited only by their disposable income. The result is all the junk in my basement is pretty much worthless.
