If I were a billionaire I’d drop a lot more than that to own The Black Strat. Then I’d make reels of myself just using it to play licks from Blues You Can Use, badly, through two Dumbles just to piss people off.

If people will pay that much for a used guitar from a famous musician, I wonder how much would they pay for celebrity soiled undies and used condoms?

Well, billionaires in the Gulf States pay celebrities millions of dollars to perform at their parties. So the right pair of underwear would probably go for a fortune. But whose would be worth more—Bill Burr or Beyoncé?

Rich weirdos would rather hoard relics than share/pay their fair share to maintain society.

The magic of that CBS-era strat is that someone made art with it, and once some rich dipshit owns it as a trophy, it stops being special in the way it was special.

Material culture in museums can sometimes be meaningful/illuminating. But these instruments should either be played or they are the equivalent of the wall hangers at TGIFridays.

I don't know about what the rich weirdo who sold it is gonna do this time, but I think when David Gilmour sold it originally he gave the money all to charity. I could be wrong though
