So tone report. The Suhr pickups are new to me and I am quite impressed. the humbuckers are maybe the brightest sounding PAF types I’ve heard. Very articulate and beautiful sounding. The middle pickup is pure Strat.
with the coil split function, it’s doing the 2 & 4 position quack quite nicely.
I’d say she’s a true jack of all trades guitar. You can get some believable LP tones and believable Strat tones with it.

Time to move on! I have two more of these planned. The next one is a red tele style. I have a Hipshot stainless bridge and locking tuners. Have a partially completed mahogany neck/wenge fingerboard. Have a poplar slab but I’m thinking about getting mahogany instead. Black pickguard material.
Still debating pickups but right now im leaning either Duncan Broadcaster+P90 or maybe some fender twisted tele pickups.

Performance red is my color.

Pickups are here. A pair of TV Jones Starwood telecaster pups. The Hipshot bridge. And I found a good deal on a very light piece of Honduran mahogany. By my calculations, I should see something in the neighborhood of 7.5-8 pounds.

My “paint grade” body blank arrived. It’s three pieces of quarter sawn figured mahogany and light as a feather. The three pieces are sequential cuts from the same plank and they match perfectly.
The only flaw I found is one wormhole, which I can hide on the front. The back, I’ll decorate with a tiny bit of worm art lol. This piece is just crying out for a clear finish.

Quarter sawn maple for both the neck shaft and fingerboard. This one will get a 7.25” radius and medium frets along with a U channel style truss rod.

After some overthinking, I decided I like the darker fretboard with natural mahogany so I’m using a mahogany neck and wenge fingerboard. I just got the mother of pearl dots in!
