I wish I liked at least some of his music. :embarrassed:

What about the album Cookin?...its brilliant. I am not a real fan of Miles Davis, playing wise. His real talent came in surrounding himself with amazing musicians, and letting them do their thing...the Relaxin, Cookin, Workin, and Steamin albums, and to a lesser extent, Kinf of Blue, all have AMAZING lineups. Even after his major success with Kind of Blue, he found great musicians to work with. His second great Quintet featured players like Tony Williams and Herbie Hancock...people who went to to become the representations of Jazz...

I'll check it out, but I really didn't enjoy Kind of Blue...just don't like his sound, or the compositions themselves, which makes it somewhat difficult. :embarrassed:

As Flamencology will confirm, the only jazz I've really enjoyed to date (and I mean really enjoyed) is all piano based, Art Tatum etc.

Mo is beyond the reach of jass.....

The only jazz album I own is Kind of Blue.

Sent from my iPhone at a Tijuana donkey show.

you should all listen to "Tribute to Jack Johnson"

I'm still not sure whether 'mo would like it, but it's as good a bet for Miles as any.

I mean, how can you not like that rhythm section?

'mo should considering building up to combo stuff by listening to some piano/horn duet albums or something.

always looking for recommendations, Doc.

As always, listen to samples first, it's a big musical world out there, and this particular configuration can tend to be kind of raw and acerbic:

Kenny Baron and Stan Getz: People Time
Paul Bley and Chet Baker: Diane
Stefano Bollani and Enrico Rava: The Third Man
Any of the Steve Lacy and Mal Waldron duet albums
Harry Connick Jr. and Branford Marsalis: Occasion
Vijay Iyer and Rudresh Mahanthappa: Raw Materials
Hank Jones and Joe Lovano: Kids!

Baker and Rava are the most lush and romantic (in a good way) of the bunch.
