Jet City Isolation Cab

Modern Saint

Starve your Fear, Feed your Dream!
Well I bit the bullet tonight. It is my chosen early Christmas present from my wife to me. I said in Ronk's earlier Iso Cab post that I was looking at either Dec 2010 or Jan 2011 to buy it - well it is now Dec 2010.

The JC Iso Cab lists for $499 and the street price is $399 so I decided to look around. I found it at Musicians Friend for $329 with no tax and only $19 additional shipping due to size. For $348 total, this has been worth the it - amazing that these babies are on clearance at Musicians Friend.

I am not a fan of Eminence Speakers so there is a good chance I will change it in the future to a Celestian G12-75. Other thoughts are also getting a Jensen P12N for different tones. It is nice to have speaker variables. Shipping is anywhere between 2-5 days so I look forward to seeing it next week. I will upload some clips when I can using my Shure SM57. Just ordered a SM58 for live performance vocals so my SM57 is now retired from stage use and now dedicated to the future Iso Cab.

Very cool!

I'd like to invest in a pair of them for recording classes in the studio.... It would make Luke much easier for some things,,,

Never knew until I bought mine but Randall makes one also. Much more expensive though - around $699 but loaded with the Celestian G12-75. I don't mind - just getting will be awesome and very usable.

M buddy Scott has the Demeter version and uses it a lot. He's altered his so that he can have two mics on the speaker which is really handy

Awesome. I can't wait to hear clips and your opinion on it.

I would probably try the two mic route, too. Did he just drill another hole and install the mic jack?

My Iso Cab is due to arrive on Thursday - Woo Hoo. Gotta make room for it now in my cluttered office. Christmas comes early to the Saint household. :santareindeer:

Woo-hoo! :santareindeer:

The isocab was just delivered to my workplace and just loaded it into my truck. It is smaller than I remember but I am totally pleased. I will take pics when I get home sitting next to my Marshall rig and JC Rig so Weiner can get an idea how big the box is. As for clips, I will work on posting some this weekend. electricguitar054

Great question brother. That topic has always been a debated item on the Jet City fan page on Facebook. I asked Doug White at the Winter NAMM about it and he said guess, IIRC it was that there are three owners - that's it. The owners are Mike Soldano (Soldano Amplification), Doug White (White Box Engineering), and Andy Marshall (THD).

I will try to get some clips up soon. Cleaning out the office to make room for the cab.

Well I got one clip up today. Not happy with my playing but it will do. I will try to get to more as I find the time as I want to rerecord it and do some clean tracks too.

Here is what I used to record the clip.
  • Gibson Les Paul Studio (Stock)
  • Jet City JCA20H Amp - Settings were Preamp - 9 (max), Bass - 4.5, Mid - 4.5, Treble - 5.5, Master 9, Presence - 4

*Please note that the amps maximum settings are 9 = 3+3+3
  • Jet City Jet Stream Iso Cab with Eminence Speaker (spec'd for Jet City)
  • Shure SM57 Microphone
Some personal things I have noted.
1) I want to replace the speaker with a Celestian G12-75. Not a fan of Eminence speakers.
2) I am learning about mic placement so this may not have been the best choice for the clip.
3) I will probably add more padding to dampen the sound more and experiment.

The backing track is Mo's Mixolydian Jam. I just call it "Prest-o, Chang-o, Mix-o"!
