Achtung! Just bought tickets for the world's finest songwriter

saw him a few years ago at the Hammerstein. it was great. highlights for me were Apeman, Celluloid Heroes, and Father Christmas.

That was my first thought, too. Or perhaps Steve Earle.

I saw The Kinks live in '81. It was a good show. These days, Ray is sadly more of an oldies act.

To be fair he's only put put 2 solo records since the Kinks split so he's not got a lot of "new" stuff to dip into and they were both pretty good.

That being said, you don't go to watch Paul McCartney or Roger Waters to hear their new material...

I dont know Ive seen some good shows at arenas. It depends on your seats. I do like the way Joe Bonamassa does his tours though. Nothing bigger than 5,000 seats. He always sounds great.

i've HEARD to some great shows at arenas. but i've never SEEN a fucking thing because there's always some tall fuck in front of me, or i should have brought binoculars.

the biggest place with seating i'll go is Radio City. it holds 6000. the biggest general admission venue i'll go to is the Hammerstein Ballroom, which holds 3400. most of the great rooms in the city (Carnegie, Lincoln Center, Beacon) hold about 2800, with the exception of Town Hall, which holds 1500. IMO, if you're worth seeing, you'll play a great room.

I've seen some great shows in big places, but then again I'm a big fucker who can see over everyone.
