MWGL Official Breaking Bad Thread

Dexter is now a joke. It was never a great show, but it had its moments. Season 2 was OK, and even last season made a bit of a rebound. But man, this season is just terrible. They're not even trying anymore.

I couldn't get into Dexter. Tried a few episodes but it just seemed super super contrived. I mean basically all TV dramas are contrived to a certain degree, but that show just seemed blatantly so.

Speaking of shows that lotsa folks love that I don't, I found Weeds to be kinda annoying.

I agree. I liked the first couple seasons of dexter, but I couldn't even make through a couple episodes of weeds.

What really sucks about Dexter is that the last two seasons appeared to lay the groundwork for a definitive ending (read: Dexter's ultimate demise); instead, they started this season by completely copping out and trashing the setup - it's like in the time that they had to come up with the ending, they threw their hands in the air and hit the "reset" button. Now, with the season half over, any attempt to end Dexter's character (death; throw him in jail, etc.) is going to seem forced, without any kind of satisfying finality to it.

Then you have BB, which started the last 8 episodes in a logical, yet intelligent and somewhat surprising way. The bottom line is, going into the final eight, you KNOW that the end is near for Walt, you just don't know HOW it's going to end for him. With that "tread lightly" scene at the end, it laid out the possibility that one expected outcome may not happen (I'm not going to spoil it aany further ).

Weeds killed me. She is such a dumbass, making every wrong decision she can, but everything just happens to work out for her because she's SOOOO good looking (although she's nice-looking at best.)

I just watched Sunday's show.

Jesus.

How is it possible for something to be so hyped and to garner such high expectations and STILL not disappoint?

Hubris is gonna be a proper motherfucker in this instance, I expect.

Yeah. Walt HAS to have the upper hand, or at least think he does. He has to think that he's seen as the cleverest one in the room. He thinks he's become Gus but he's failed, because Gus almost always chose pragmatism over his own pride.

Great episode.

As a side note, I own a copy of Leaves of Grass (blue cover even!).

I put it on the back of my toilet in the guest bathroom, and look forward to seeing how many visitors get the joke.
