My favorite guitarist's favorite licks from one of my other favorite guitarists

Grow a bigger beard?
I actually had it pretty long (for me) a few months ago. It’s actually longer than I think you’ve ever seen it now.

i found a new barber that does the straight razor thing, and he’s been shaping for me.

The amazing thing is how relatively simple (for the most part) those licks are, but how they transform the songs. True creativity.

And you can use them everywhere. I am normally doing something like that 99% of the time I play. The simple parts with a bit of movement always seem to work.

You mentioned Josh Smith recently and I’ve been listening to him a bunch since then. I had been listening to a lot of Guthrie Trapp and love him as well. Didn’t know much about Steve Cropper but will listen a bunch now.

Check out Kirk Fletcher while you at it. Some Chris Cain is always good too.

You may not know much about Cropper, but you've heard him a bunch. He's played on so many recordings and was one of the guitar players in the Blues Brothers.

I have been watching Kirk Fletcher. So smooth. I will look up Chris Cain as well. You guys know I'm not much of a player but listening to these guys has inspired me to look at playing differently. I've made more progress in the last few weeks than I have in years.

That's what I gathered from the video. I'm just finally getting better at paying attention to the parts. The instrument has gotten a lot more fun.
