I saw the earlier version at NAMM last year. I am not a MIDI user so it is of no big deal to me. Also I don't tweak alot once I get started as I use pedals. The only time I make any sort of adjustment is from guitar to guitar.

Yeah, but with this amp, you could simply make a different preset with different volume settings to compensate for different pickups. Plus, you're not sharing an eq for all channels. You can set it different for clean, gain, hi gain, and whatever else you want, and use pedals from there. Plus, I think it's the best looking amp they've ever come out with. This is definitely on my Christmas list.

Amps like this are why I use pedals. It's just easier.

I used to feel this way. I had a giant double pedalboard that even included a Pod XT Live loaded with a shit-ton of presets. Then, over time, I found that I wanted more of my sounds to come from the amp. Now, I've trimmed down quite a bit. I hardly ever use effects except for a wah and a Carbon Copy delay. I use tremolo on "I Thank You" by ZZ Top. Otherwise, I'm pulling from my amp's tone. I have a 3 channel amp with boost built it. It totally changed me.

I use 5 pedals, total. There's no difference between a channel switching amp and using 2 dirt pedals, except you get a better clean tone out of the pedal friendly amp.

That's true. On Sunshine Of Your Love, I switch to my clean channel and use an MJM Foxey Fuzz. Amazing sound.

Playing live I don't compensate by a program. Say tonight I am playing a strat, I will set the amp a little hotter. If I break a string midsong and have to change to an LP, I will just reduce the guitars volume until it is just right and when the song ends, readjust the amp. My tone controls always stay at 12 o'clock as this IMO brings the true tonality of the guitar out and I can flip between the pickups for different colors.

I am not into channel switching or preset values because I like to tweak on the fly and depending on the venue, I may use two amps. One for clean and one for English crunch. Why not a channel switching amp then? There are times that I use both amps to blend the clean and crunch tones together and boom, I am have a blended stereo sound.

On gigs with one amp, you work with what you got. Besides those rooms are small anyway and 1) you don't have the stage space or 2) too much sound.

Everyone has there own method to the madness :embarrassed:

I'd try it. I play a Jet City JCA50H, but it's been modded. I bought it that way, so I have no idea at all what it might have sounded like prior to the mod. I love it now, though.

Looks pretty cool. I always wanted some of the zinky and rivera midi interface/programable amps to take off, but they never really did.

I work best w/a single channel amp dialed in pretty clean. I add dirt w/a pedal, or bring an overdrive and distortion if I'm feeling really saucy. That and my tonelab, and, well, got most stuff covered with the patches on the the TL.

I really just need my amp to play well clean, and take to the pedals well.

That said, the jet city in the OP looks like a neat amp.

If this amp had 6V6's in it instead of EL84's, I'd be all over it. 6V6's have that warmness to them like small 6L6s. EL84's are much easier to get buzzy sounding.

Depends on the manufacturer of tubes Tony. If you use chinese tubes, they will be very gritty sounding. In my JCA20 I have JJ's which are really smooth sounding EL84's.

My Deluxe Tweed which houses 6V6's have Tung Sol's in them which is really warm sounding, sort of like a bell like sound. If I were to put other 6V6 brands in, the overall sound would change again. Same goes for the type of preamp tube as well. While everyone thinks that a 12AX7 is a 12AX7, try different brand 12AX7's and you will notice a difference.
