Listen to this - New Stones!

I don't like the chorus. Sounds like the producer told them you need a pop chorus for the kids to sing. Least Stones things I think I've ever heard from them.
It sounds like they brought in Diane Warren to write the chorus.

The song is okay. I liked the video. Showing the Stones playing on the billboard was cool.
I'm getting old though. I found myself wondering if that pretty girl's bra was scratching the paint job.

I guess the creepy part is they have a grand...make that great granddaughter aged woman featured in their video and the only shots of them are like early eighties images from when they were in their 40's :embarrassed:

I think that was the right move, to be honest. The song's not bad, Jagger doesn't sound 80, and the old footage makes them see kind vital. If it had been Sydney Sweeney rolling around in the car to actual footage of what the Stones really look like in 2023 I can't imagine it would have won us over.

I have no objections. Nice beefy drums, gritty low midrange guitars, gainy bass, generously hi-passed/lo-passed and slightly distorted INXS-esque vocals with a bit of slapback. It's a safe, happy-go-lucky, feel good, in-the-car tune from the rock 'n' roll vets. To put it into perspective, I'd much, much rather listen to this six or eight times a day than have diarrhea.

Forgettable fluff, the well is completely dry.

What I have a problem with is that this add nothing to their brand, their legacy in fact imho it only cheapens it. Here we have a band that started almost 60 ye4ars ago, 1964 if I remember correctly was their first release. the band stayed relatively intact memberwise since what 1971 I think. so charlie watts dies in 2021...THAT IS THE END, or should have been. This is fluff. It's the AI version. They are just doing this to cement themselves in the history books as "longest running rock and roll group". TWhen was the last time they even had a memorable song ? Ima say it was off Steel Wheels and that was 1989.....4 decades ago *spits* .....this angry song makes me angry :embarrassed:

I think Mick, Keef and Ronnie enjoy the work so why not let them get on with it?

Speaking of Ronnie, I watched the Jimmy Fallon interview from last week at the launch and Ronnie looked like shit. Very pale and unwell looking. Hopefully he was just hungover but I worry he may be next. :frown:

The answer to your question is in your question .....because one of them might die on stage and nobody needs to see that :embarrassed:

but inseriousness because old dudes their age should be winding it down.....naps in the afternoon, some hot cocoa in the evening winter snggled under a blanket, sitting on a chaitr in the sun, etc. They don't need to be closing bar at 4 am or requesting only red M &m's ....it's embarrassing

Song was OK, nothing special or memorable, IMO.

I thought the video effect of them playing on the billboards was cool, but found it interesting/odd that they chose archival footage for it. It made the video feel more like a tribute to the Stones rather than a new release.

As far as the girl goes, I can still appreciate an attractive, scantily clad woman writhing about on a car. I haven't reached that stage of grumpy old man yet. However, like @Andrew Sak said, those rhinestones can't be good for that paint job. Maybe that's what we're not supposed to get angry about.

I say let them play kick the can. It's fun that they're still going. Don't stay on the porch.

Gotta keep the money train rolling in.

I was flipping through the channels the other night and caught a bit of a rebroadcast of the 2021 concert in Brazil. Pretty damn impressive, considering.

Personally I really don’t like much of any of their material from about the early/mid 70’s on, but that’s just me. I think their best/most interesting stuff by far was with Brian Jones, after that they just became another blues rock band and the less interesting pop stuff. As for as this particular vid, total cringe and I def. have no desire to listen to it again.
