RIP Jeff Hanneman

Slayer is devastated to inform that their bandmate and brother, Jeff Hanneman, passed away at about 11AM this morning near his Southern California home. Hanneman was in an area hospital when he suffered liver failure. He is survived by his wife Kathy, his sister Kathy and his brothers Michael and Larry, and will be sorely missed.

I met Jeff twice and he was a really, really nice guy on both occasions (as was Kerry King). He also wrote most of my favourite Slayer songs. RIP Jeff!
 
I just got the news from a buddy. Not happy about this. Probably one of my favorite metal guitarists. He wrote all the great Slayer riffs and solos.

Damn...I figured things were bad when he wasn't going to be on the tour and the comments from the band were a little cryptic but I didn't think he was that bad.
 
I'm not a fan of Slayer, but I hate to see someone die in such strange circumstances and so young. That sucks big time. RIP
