I’m seriously considering this Squier Jazzmaster XII. Opinions.

Everybody on OffsetGuitars.com and Squier-Talk.com have been all about them. I think MY only complaint about them is that the pickups are steel pole jobs and not legit Jazzmaster pickups, but by all accounts the thing still sounds killer.

Haven't played one but always thought they were super cool. I'd love to have one, but more than that, I'd love to be able to play one and have a setting in which to play it.

not crazy about the color, but i like it.
a neighbor friend's older brother had a burst one back in 1966/67. i liked the way it played and sounded.

I have one in white, it feels good to play and is surprisingly easy to play. I don't like that it uses the old style neck adjustment at the bottom of the neck, means having to take the neck off every time you want to adjust the neck. Beyond that I like mine.

You have one, so I'm not saying you're wrong, but the images on the fender website clearly show a headstock adjustment. Companies change spec all the time, but this one seems odd to not have caught and corrected.

Well this is my XII. You tell me.

Oh, that's the older Fender Electric XII, not the new Squier Jazzmaster XII. That'll explain your trussrod difference besides a slightly differently shaped body, different pickguard and control plate, and different pickups.

Yeah, I thought we were only talking about the new Squier. Just looked back, thread title Squier 12...the post stated "I have one in white." It's not the same guitar.
Cheers.

And don’t forget that the original post is the Paranormal series.
They take license and do whatever they want with the specs and even mash things up a bit.

Could someone tell me if the Squier fits in a FE610 gig bag?

If that’s a standard sized bag, I’d guess, “No”.

I went with a universal, rectangular hard case and had to go up to the Thunderbird bass size because of the width of the XII’s lower bout.
It’s snug.
The standard bass case was even too narrow.

I think the Squier makes sense if you want an electricmafied 12-string. I love having a 12 (acoustic). It's my cheapest acoustic (Tak EG523SC-12) because I couldn't justify paying more than $450 for something that's really a specialty item, but I've had it now about 20 years and it's still holding strong. I think the Squier makes a whole lot more sense than a Ric 360-12 from the perspective of price/value/utility. If only Fender would put out a version with a blue-painted headstock that wasn't limp - the Squier Viagra Edition Jazzmaster XII...
