Newsflash! The big HC upgrade is coming on Thursday...

Word on the street is color adjustments, searc, etc are coming. I think they launched it "out of the box" to minimize downtime.

I wonder why they didn't work all that stuff out on the test server, export the style and then import it on the real thing while they had it down? They could have gone through the growing pains without giving the chronic whiners ammunition.

And they didn;t restring thread tags to the thread starter, so now you have this:

From amps, naturally

I started a thread at HC called "Post Your Favorite Ed Roman Monstrosity." We were all posting pics of his "better" works. Someone pointed out that one was a copy of a BC Rich model. I replied that half what he makes are copies...often passed off as the real thing. There is one guy over there who's a big ER fanboi who came in saying he forwarded the link to Ed and I was gonna get sued for libel and slander because I didn't have proof to back up my claim. It went on for 8 pages before the shutdown this morning. Quite humorous.

I just read that entire thread. It's pretty hilarious, and it is currently looking like it will have a pretty satisfying end.

Correct.

I'm actually thinking (from what little I've heard and what I understand of this particular process) that is should go pretty smoothly. They're just upgrading to what we have here, although probably a version later (4.0.8 instead of 4.0.7) than what I'm currently running. 4.1 just came out this week and I'll probably install it in a week or so but it just has a bunch of bug fuxes...

I did that upgrade tonight.
After reading some of the failures, I set up a test install and ran the upgrade there. It was flawless.
So I ran it on the live site. Flawless again.
I'm still living with messed up styles from 4.0.8 but everything else seems fine. And the site seems faster.

The upgrade interface is different in a good way I think.
