Dig it! The full rundown on my McFeely 440 guitar

I have a couple of strats and the best sounding one has a swimming pool route. I haven't noticed that it feeds back more readily, but it is more alive feeling and sounding than the strat that is routed for each individual pickup. Both are top of the line MIA Deluxe models.

Although I can leave the wood intact if you prefer, a swimming pool route allows me to have bodies ready to go and still offer customizable pickup options via a loaded pick guard. You could have a fat strat style loaded pick guard and a dual P90 pick guard that could be dropped in depending on your mood. Quick disconnects mean that you wouldn't have to solder to the input jack. Plug n play.

I'll get a build thread together over the next few days so that you can get a glimpse of how this was built. :thu:

On the other hand, if you get your credit cards close to all those magnets, they'll be erased.

:embarrassed:

It is a beautiful piece of work...Bravo Tele!

...any string pull issues with all those magnets?

None that I can tell

I like that idea :embarrassed:

I could actually have 2-3 pickguards and just drop in whatever I'm going to use for a specific gig when I restring the guitar.

No string pull issues at all. Humbuckers have way less magnetic pull than single coils. There is probably the same pull as a standard strat.

That is really a fantastic looking guitar.
Excellent job!
How much is one of these babies going for, if you don't mind me asking?

I think Mark is "costing the instrument out" and working out the final pricing but I think its going to be pretty affordable for this sort of thing.

And I guess my place is the "West COast Showroom" if anyone wants to come and play mine to see what all the fuss is about.

Looks cool mark! :thu: How does it compare to your Suhr?

Thanks!

It holds up surprisingly well. There are some details that we are working out (I'm sending the guitar back to Mark in a few weeks to make some small changes) but I think the only major difference is the paint...Suhr has a full on climate controlled paint department that has done thousands of bodies and this is Tele's first body that he's done at his place and it was 6 degrees in PA when he shot it. I'm happy with the paint as it is but he would like a chance to repaint it since this one is kind of the west coast demo guitar and he wants it to be perfect. The rest of the issues are just because we were short on time before the show and I'm not sure I made the right decision in choosing pickups. And we have a few electronic features we want to experiment with that we didn't have time for before NAMM.

And I really don't feel like I'm missing either the Plek or Feiten intonation with this guitar either. I should just have him set up the rest of my guitars like this :embarrassed:

A great tech will always be better than a machine IMO. I a machine can't quantify feel.

So you have the west coast demo guitar. I would gladly volunteer to have the east coast demo guitar. Being right outside of DC, I am centrally located so I would be the perfect choice :embarrassed:

You better stop before I kiss you.

I had the exact same question about the swimming pool route and then started thinking about being able to swap out loaded pick guards, and then I got distracted and didn't get back here until now.

I saw the pics up on FB of you with this last night after band practice and was trying to figure out what the heck you were playing. Very sweet looking guitar - Mark did a great job. Plus it has all that P-Stock mojo in it as well.

Well there is that. I'm lucky to have access to two great ones.

Zack..?

:(

Gonna send it back to Mark today to have him finish up some of the features he didn't have time for before coming out for NAMM. Just wrote a new instrumental on it while I was supposed to be packing it. Damn thing is too fun to play. Can't wait to have it back though....I have a few weeks between gigs right now so this is the best time to send it out even though I'm jonesing to play it.
