The official MWGL A.D.H.D. thread.....

Thank you... it took one of our (ex) OCD members to bring the ADD Knock Knock joke to a close 33 hours later. :helper:

Three dressers? I had to switch my one dresser to a second set of hangers and shelves... because for me, once something goes inside of a drawer... it magically ceases to exist.

I had all of my clothes on hangers for most of my life. I had to buy new furniture for my bedroom & two guest rooms. I should start using the two in the guest rooms. I just can’t get around to it!

Oh my gosh! I now have my indoor termite inspection coming up. My ADHD self has got to get motivated.

This is exactly what my boss has :embarrassed: he's a total busy body. The man is 75 he goes from 6 am till probably 9 pm daily. He is working on an album and does recording at his friends studio about three days a week before opening the shop. he also does fencing, takes ballet (yes ballet :embarrassed:) classes 2 days a week at 9 am and he'll be adding 2 more of that soon , so four days. then all the business stuff, etc, etc I could on and on...heck a couple weeks ago for the second time this year he drove to Flagstaff from Tucson ( about a 4 1/2 , 5 hour drive) after work on Friday for a fencing tournament then drove back Saturday evening...at 75 years old his life make me tired just thinking about it :embarrassed: Oh yeah he generally is always multitasking at least 5 or 6 things as well on any given day, sometimes on two phones at once

Anyway in the past i think we used to call you people "busy bodies" :cop:

“Busy body” usually connotes someone who a gossip or snoop. Someone who inserts themselves into other peoples’ business.

And it doesn’t sound like your boss has ADHD. Rather it seems like he has a high motor and enjoys a high level of engagement and activity.

I recognize that it’s currently very trendy to celebrate cocooning and domestic puttering as some kind of introvert’s utopia we should all aspire to. But some people—and I’m one of them—simply have the capacity for more daily exertion and the desire to be out and about more and engaged in more activities beyond the ol’ Netflix and vape pen veg fest.

That likely has nothing to do with ADHD

that sounds like an awful lot of planning and follow through for someone with ADHD.

Chicago to Nashville with pitstops for fuel, food, bathroom breaks is a 8 to 9 hour drive. So most likely I would plan on driving down, attending the gig, and then spending the night before driving back.

I’ve driven 2 to 4 hours for stuff and then turned around and come home. And for work stuff over the past year there’s been plenty of situations where I’ve had to jump in the car, drive three hours to handle some bullshit and then drive back home late.

This scenario is not really a function of being neurodivergent or not. It’s really just stamina/energy level and ability to deal with stress/deprivation. I mean yesterday, I got up and went to work at 7am expecting a normal day and immediately discovered shit went sideways. Did some time sensitive paperwork, rolled out at 11 to go solve problems on site, then found some missing items and drove those items to their home location (50 minutes each way) and then got some other shit that had to go to another place (1.25 hours away). Did that. Did some meetings on the phone while on the road. Drove 1.5 hours back home. Gave blood. Made dinner. And then met a job candidate at 9pm to do an interview because that’s when he was available.

Is this a reasonable amount of effort to expect from people? No. Have I been successful because I’ve got a little extra energy in the tank and can defer my discomfort as needed? Yep. Do I tick the ADHD diagnosis buttons? Nope. I mean, I was professionally evaluated as a child and not diagnosed.

dood...if you hire that guy he will know he has the upper hand because you conformed to his schedule...yer the man and should have iron fisted him" bro 8pm is not acceptable. if you want the job you meet me during normal work hours" Heck if you hire him he will probably work from home (using an AI to do his work) and you'll still be interviewing prospective employees at midnight at the local Denny's

Um, I know this guy and we discussed all the work stuff and expected hours and this is a win-win situation which is one reason why I made this accommodation. I mean, I know your an expert in HR and recruiting and all…
