I didn't take any pictures of the finishing process but the steps are pretty straightforward - sand the guitar and neck up to about 320 grit, shoot 20 or so coats of lacquer, three a day with sanding to 320 or 400 between each set. Let it cure for three or more weeks (good time to take a vacation). Then sand starting at 800 and going up to 1500, at which point it looks like this
Now buff with fine abrasive, I use Mequier's #2 and #3 polishing compounds from an auto parts store. Looks like this
It still has some scratches and swirl marks but I can't resist putting it together to see how it will look.
