The Ten Commandments of Bass

I'm really tired of these lists telling me what I should and shouldn't do. If it's anything beyond basic technique, fuck off. This is art and I'll do it any way that I want to.

And yes, I understand these things aren't binding. Still, fuck off.
Dude, don't take it so seriously. It's just an internet list.

I'm curious: what is the hatred of the pick all about? I've actually had real bass players recommend I use one on certain songs.

Not-taking-internet-lists-too-seriously aside, general anti-pick-for-playing-bass attitudes kind of irk me. There is absolutely stuff that sounds better played with fingers, as well as stuff that can go either way, but there is also stuff that flat-out (pun intended) just sounds better with a pick. I have witnessed players not use a pick out of some kind of weird pride on stuff that clearly would have sounded better with one. Silly.

The pick gets a nice sound for a lot of situations- the percussive-ness and can really add a lot to the right song.

Sometmes you need a pick.Motorhead tunes don't sound right without one.
Some Punk is the same way.You need that percussive attack.

Funny list though
