Tomorrow, in 1977, Lynyrd Skynyrd's plane crashed.

i was in a bar in Valdosta Ga. hanging out with a band from Jax. i knew those guys and jammed with them and traded some guitars with them here and there. i knew that they knew some of the guys from L.S.
the bar tender calls over to the band that there's an important phone call and brownie (the bass player) goes over an answers it. after a few minutes he comes back up on stage and says over the mic, that there's been a terrible accident and they (the band) have to pack and get back home...TONIGHT!!

i leaned over to Brownie and said "what's up". he goes "that was Allen's girlfriend and she saidtheir plane crashed and nobody knows if anyone survived".

and i said "you gotta tell everyone". so he makes the announcement over the PA....and the place goes deathly silent.

the crowd started chanting....."Free Bird"......and so....they played it. best version i've ever heard, including the original.

after that.....i went over to Wesley.....guitarist and B-3 player and started helping him get that beast into the truck.....about 40 minutes later, they were headed for I-75 South.....i will NEVER forget that night.

Maybe it's time to send this guy to fix all that.

I remember that being the talk of the school cafeteria. I had to just look it up, because I thought by the thread title that it happened on my birthday. Two big market crashes (including yesterday's) have happened on my birthday. Didn't want the plane crash too.
