Guitar....

Specifically - I need to get Plush down better (just learned it) and to tighten up a couple tunes before our gig on Saturday.

In Tommy's class we are working on:

Kidney Stew- Eddie Cleanhead Vinson (also working on sax solo for guitar)
Women and Cadillacs - The Nightriders (^see this)
It Should've Been Me - Ray Charles
Cuban Getaway - Ike Turner

Just learned Tornado of Souls by Megadeth, now off to learning Beyond the Realms of Death by Priest, when I find the time. Also, still working on arpeggios, sweeping, and taking what I've learned in songs and applying them to my own playing.:)

Dialing in a solo on an original that's basically St James Infirmary changes. Blues with Freddie Green three note chords. Gettin' my "country" on as well. :thu:

Smoke on the water solo. :annoyed:

Improvising a melody over Let It Be

Minor scales

Here's my take on the "Smoke on The Water" solo :)

It's a lot of fun to play, Mark actually helped me out with the fast picked part 'cos I wasn't quite getting it smooth. When I recorded it, I'd taken the whammy off my Strat so didn't do the little dive..and couldn't be bothered to fix it. :embarrassed:

I'm mostly working on metronome drills still..I have a lot of years to catch up.

Oh, and I had a go at "Highway Star" too :)..one of my favourite solo's ever:

..Thanks!..you just have to try and make the picking motion as relaxed and small as possible..I do that part with just thumb/index finger movement and my wrist is still...whatever works!

Ballad of Curtis Lowe- i have half assed played it for years but i'm getting the little nuances down now

a new country tune- Something to do with my Hands

I'm working up a chord melody version of "Shine On, Harvest Moon" for the ukulele.

My wife hates it. She shuts the door and stuffs towels under it to block the sound.

Original country tunes for the new band I joined plus Miranda Lambert's "Gunpowder and Lead"

Relearning 40 Days and 40 Nights. An original tune that I co-wrote with Hobo a couple of years ago. Gonna play it at my solo acoustic gig tonight along with KWS's Blue on Black.

Thinking about a summer song for the recordingfest. Still up in the air.

Trying to get the flute solo from Knights in White Satin learned on guitar. Giving it a taste of Gilmour, but so far it's sounding like a big steaming pile of...

"Never Going Back Again" by Fleetwood Mac. I'm working on my fingerpicking skills, and I've always loved this song.
