I want to update my bookstore widget here on the forum.

Here are a bunch that I use on a regular basis:

What else rocks?

Leavitt's Modern Method for Guitar books have done me more good than anything else, probably.

I've only ever used one and that was back in college. It was the Berklee one. No idea if it is any good.

if you can convince a child to get past the first 20 pages or so, Mel Bay actually turns into a pretty decent method. those first 20 pages suck ass though.

i do like Berklee, even if it has nothing to do with the outside world.

i also like the Funkmasters book and the Hal Leonard Blues Bass book.

...I like the Mal Bay one, but not page for page. I prefer to use my own curriculum, but the Mel Bay book is great for little exercises, and great for sight reading...

This one is good, too but I haven't used it much yet:

if you want your hand to turn into a pretzel, buy this book.

How do you make the books show up like that Mark? The one I listed is available at amazon too.

I have the administrator usergroup here on the forum allowed to use HTML so I can embed things like that but it's a big security risk if I opened it up to registered users so thats why even Help!I'maRock!s quote just showed the code and not the embedded link. I wish there was a BB code for Amazon, though. I think it would actually get used around here.

For the shredders, Troy Stetina's "Speed Mechanics" is a really good book. His method, whilst not unique..metronome, slow practice etc..works. It's very well put together.

Over the years, I've got a lot out of Ted Greene's "Chord Chemistry" and Frank Gambales "Essential Soloing Theory Course"

it's books like that one that have me considering a CV Duo-Sonic in the back of my mind. i can't even play some of those voicings on my Ric.

Some of the problems with chords and reaches like that have more to do with the flexibilty of your hand...I was much better able to reach chords like that after I did this for a week or so:

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/b-EOdJkmlSs?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/b-EOdJkmlSs?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

btw, I'll be moving this thread to String Theory this afternoon...just wanted to get a bit more attention before it ended up there...
