What guitar do you have irrational GAS for?

Irrational, you say?

FUCKING YES. I love that guitar!

Wanted one of these before I could even PLAY guitar and it's still as absurdly impractical, heavy and expensive as it was for me then.

Irrational GAS update - I've been a fan of Sunny Day Real Estate since the mid 90s. Their song "In Circles" has been my favorite song of mine, for a very long time.

After listening to "In Circles" this afternoon, I have significant irrational GAS for an SG, despite not having had an SG since 1991. While Dan Hoerner plays (to this day) Les Pauls, Jeremy Enigk's always used SGs for "In Circles." I normally don't like smaller bodied guitars, but IMO, from personal experience, SGs just scream when you pour on the crushing distortion (whereas LPs basically roar). Unlike other other songs, where Jeremy plays LPs, the SG on 'In Circles", makes song absolutely crushing soundwise. Besides, I'm almost as LPed out, as I am Stratted out. :) As of the present time, I want an SG!

White Falcon. Have wanted one for YEARS, even though I've never ever played one. Sometimes when I go past the Rock Inn I go inside and stare at one for about 5 minutes, then walk out...

EDIT: Yikes, that's a bigass picture.

If I'm not mistaken, this is one of the import models, which there is no shame in. I own an orange 5120, which is an incredible guitar. I've played the $3000 Gretsches, they don't play any better than mine. I love mine. This is actually mine in this picture. Now, that doesn't mean I don't covet that White Falcon. Yes-sir-ee, I'd take one of those in a heartbeat!

Ummm, other than the custom shop models (which are very expensive), all modern Gretsches are imported. There hasn't been a US made production line Gretsch guitar since 1981 (when Baldwin closed down Gretsch).

Oh wow. Had no idea (obviously). Where are they made now?

The Proline are made in Japan. Some of the 51 series are Korean and some are made in China.

As Ellen mentioned Fender Custom shop does limited run specials at collector's item prices. Like the replica of Bryan Setzer's 6120 that I saw in Sam Ash window a few years back. (Not a standard Setzer which are MIJ) it was a replica thing with every scratch and sticker of the original.

Farin Urlaub's Cyan Bonehead. Loved it since I first saw it. I love how it is semi-hollow with a large front but extremely thin. Way too much cash for me though.

Mine was made in Korea.

I actually hate relic guitars. I want all those marks, scratches, dents, and dings to be mine. Every one should be a story of some bar gig somewhere. Relics are poser guitars, in my opinion. Buy a new guitar, play the shit out of it, relic it the old fashioned way!

Word up. I beat the shit out of my guitars enough on my own. Drop them, they fall over, burn the top with a soldering iron or a cigarette, spill beer (or Scotch) on them. Hell I had an amp that someone puked on. Found some girl's necklace from the late 80's in the back of it when I cleaned the cabinet out.
If do quite a good enough job relic'ing my own stuff!

goldtop LP with a P90 at bridge, and no neck pup
