the hand/wrist hurts when I twist or grip certain ways but it seems like I can play without too much discomfort.

Yeah, I think the general guideline is to apply ice in the 48 hour window from the time of the injury but I am sure that there is some variation depending upon the individual.

Heat applied to it can help a lot past the swelling stage and massaging it with the other hand which is instinct anyway.

The thing that I find really sucks about injuries like that is how you think back to when you were 20 something and it wouldn't even hurt the next day. Healing takes so much longer now.

I know a dude who was hit in the middle of a turn like that and he was twisted in the seat when the air bag got him. It was ugly.

You go through the vehicle/fleet services people there. They understand that shit happens and I had (until yesterday) a perfectly clear driving record for 34 years.
