Who is Gonna Get the $250 Lost Big Muff 2 Pedal

Peen Simmons

Let’s Get Obtuse!

JHS out here finding missing Big Muffs and putting out limited releases and just taking your money. And Jack White is helping! There are simply not enough muff circuit variations!

I paid less than that for my much more versatile Muffuletta. And I already have two other Muff-derived pedals. So I doubt I’ll buy this one. And if I do I’ll buy a clone on Reverb for $100.

I just got an EQD Hoof, and also have the Thorpy Fallout Cloud and the EQD Hizumitas. All flavors of Muff. Oh and a Mr. Black Sludge Master, which I think is also Muff-based. Sludgy, too, since it is the master of it. The master of sludge I mean. Cause it's called the Sludge Master...

Not me. Like Smurfco I own an EQD Cloven Hoof and a Hizumatis plus an EHX Russian Big Muff, a black box Sovtek Big Muff and a Donner Stylish fuzz. I’ve got muffs coming out out of my azz.

I'm perfectly satisfied with my beat to shit NYC big muff that I got when I was 16. I'll use that €250 for something more fun than faux-originality chasing.

Not me. But I am considering a Carcosa.
In case you don’t already know, Tom Cram designed the Carcosa at Digitech and later based his Spiral Electric FX Demhe Fuzz on the Carcosa circuit. I thought you might want to know that there’s another version of that pedal circuit out there. Both are based on a Maestro FZ-1S Fuzz Tone circuit with Tom’s tweaks.

I never owned a Carcosa, but I do own a Demhe with blower. I love the Demhe, but have no idea how it compares to the Carcosa. I’m sure they are both good pedals.

Cheers! Given the chance (and subject to availability) I'd love to try both. I'll check out some youtube vids in the meantime. :thu:

I’ve got the Russian reissue, the Op Amp reissue, and a Wren and Cuff Cabrid with the Creamy Dreamer switch, so I’m good. Not too mention a bunch of other fuzzes.

Seems like this new Big Muff 2 mostly exists for stans and fanboi collectors. You can boost mids on a muff a bunch of other ways if you’re inclined.
