"Have you checked the intonation?"
Yes, Wednesday?, it was killing me not knowing, I couldn't wait any longer. Everything was a tiny sharp. Low E string was massively sharp but, I had the room to fix it. The G string was what I was most worried about but, I didn't even have to cut the spring in half to make more room. I checked everything Saturday and everything was good except the Low E was a tiny sharp again. Didn't bother fixing it yet.
"Could be your subconsciousness playing tricks"
On the pink Strat, the white pickguard is important. If you take the pickguard off or, just turn the guitar over, I never put the trem cover on", it looks like the guitar is white, not very light pink. Pink is so light, it needs white next to it for comparison. 10? years ago, I bought a tort pickguard for this guitar, can't remember, from Pickguardian? Pickguard Heaven?? Wherever I got it from, it was not a great fit for a Peavey Predator like it was supposed to be. It didn't go far enough past the lower tone control. I filled it with wood putty and slapped some black paint on it and it was good enough. No, the screw stayed in the putty less than 10 years.
Ironically, a Fender pickguard is almost perfect, it covers everything but, the screw hole ends up in the cavity, below the lower tone control. I have tried, failed, many attempts over the years to make my own pickguards and not gotten better. I still have the original Peavey pickguard so, I tried to make it white again. Tried soaking in hydrogen peroxide in the sun. Nope. Tried sanding it. Nope.
It's white enough for a black guitar and if I kept the guitar black, I would be happy with black knobs.
And yes, subconsciousness is very busy playing many tricks.
