Your most regrettable gear purchase of 2013

IamSeaDevil

WTF? FTW!
I like to make lowball offers on over priced crap on Ebay. It's kind of a dick move on my part and it finally bit me on the ass the other day.

So now this ridiculous see through guitar is on its way to my front door.

I honestly cannot get a good sound out of this pedal. Shame too, because I love my WIIO and I'd love a Dirty Little Secret. The CB30 is all bass, and not the warm, full, happy good kind. Just woolly unfortunateness.

I bought an extremely cheap crash cymbal. It now resembles a piece of tin that every single person in the world has kicked as hard as they could.

I will not buy dirt cheap again.

You might be surprised by that thing. I bought my acrylic see through Strat as a project to learn about maintaining and working on guitars. I figured if I could make it a half decent giggable guitar for £200 all in (purchase price was £35 + £10 delivery) I was onto a winner. £200 later it's one of my favourite guitars and to be honest the only upgrade it really HAD to have done was to drop in the £70 set of Tonerider pickups, the rest was cosmetic.

Haven't bought any gear this year.

Otherwise, I bought a box of Dunlop 10s and then my hand went to shit and I haven't been able to use them.

All I bought this year was a used beater Ibanez and that JCA A/B Boost. So far I'm still diggin' both

The one I didn't make. The Godin Session Custom (Tele-style w/ trem) that I lust was on sale for a few days in the $300-350 dollar range although it normally costs $695.00 or more for the semi-gloss blackburst that I like. I waffled, tried to convince the wife and even got her approval, but it seemed to selfish...I wish I'd been selfish.

I think it would have to be the Fender Mustang II that I bought and stopped working after a student knocked over. Damn amp can't take a punch.

Just wanted to try out a boost pedal, and this had decent reviews. Now, in fairness, I'm an overdrive guy, rather than a distortion guy. I prefer the warmth over the edgy. This pedal just sounded too harsh for my taste. I'm not done trying it with different amps, but on my tube amps I just didn't like the tone that I got. I put it away for a while, because I was so disappointed. It's only recently that I have decided to give it a try with different amps.

I would have to say when I traded my black limba Luczak (PRS style one off) for a Fender thinline cabronita.

I started messing around with it, and changing the bridge (which I hated) and routed it for a regular tele bridge. But then I was caught up in the "esquire... not f-tron... no bucker... mini bucker... esquire... shit..." and the damn thing has been without electronics for two months now.

Recently found out that Ghost makes a 3 barrel Piezo saddle set so I may put that on there... so it will be hollow with a bridge pickup and piezo.... no neck pickup... or maybe the mini bucker.... no.... the F-tron.... DAMMIT!! :embarrassed:

Nothing to regret in 2013. It pays to research and test first. That cuts down on buyer's remorse.

Nothing bad this year. Actually overall this was my best gear purchase ever. I am really, really close to my 'ideal' sound with guitars, amps, and pedals.
