Oh yeah. post-punks with tribal drumming, spaghetti western guitars, and songs about Native Americans. The Southern/Death/Cult took huge inspiration from Adam and the Ants and Bow Wow Wow (AKA Annabella and the AntsNeat, I'd heard of Bow Wow Wow and Adam and the Ants but never explored any of their stuff. Now I understand where Southern Death Cult borrowed their look and sound from![]()
) Song in point: 'Spiritwalker'
new David Eugene Edwards material today
That's quite electronic for DEE, isn't it?
You were talking the other day about stuff sounding like Southern Death Cult. Have you seen this Wovenhand live performance? It's really, really Deathcult-ish. It's like being back in 1982.
)
Yeah, for sure!
Idk how closely you follow his stuff but he's definitely been dabbling in mixing up the Wovenhand sound over the last 10-15 years, with some heavier rock-oriented stuff and some electronic influences. Not all of it lands for me, but obviously artists gotta evolve and when it hits it hits (though tbh I'd be perfectly happy for him to keep releasing Secret South or Blush or Mosaic over and over forever)
Side note, did you see that 16 Horsepower has gotten back together to do a European tour and a US festival??![]()
