WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO......RIGHT NOW......Mk III

Neat, I'd heard of Bow Wow Wow and Adam and the Ants but never explored any of their stuff. Now I understand where Southern Death Cult borrowed their look and sound from

Oh yeah. post-punks with tribal drumming, spaghetti western guitars, and songs about Native Americans. The Southern/Death/Cult took huge inspiration from Adam and the Ants and Bow Wow Wow (AKA Annabella and the Ants :)) Song in point: 'Spiritwalker'

new David Eugene Edwards material today

That's quite electronic for DEE, isn't it?

You were talking the other day about stuff sounding like Southern Death Cult. Have you seen this Wovenhand live performance? It's really, really Deathcult-ish. It's like being back in 1982.

Yeah, for sure!

Idk how closely you follow his stuff but he's definitely been dabbling in mixing up the Wovenhand sound over the last 10-15 years, with some heavier rock-oriented stuff and some electronic influences. Not all of it lands for me, but obviously artists gotta evolve and when it hits it hits (though tbh I'd be perfectly happy for him to keep releasing Secret South or Blush or Mosaic over and over forever :embarrassed:)

Side note, did you see that 16 Horsepower has gotten back together to do a European tour and a US festival??

I'd forgotten about the song with Carpenter Brut! Was that around the time he did the collab with Al Cisneros of Sleep/OM? I remember being excited about that one and then a bit underwhelmed when I heard it. It was 'okay', but not as good as either Wovenhand or Sleep.

I think the last Wovenhand Album I was seriously into was Star Treatment, I thought it was fantastic. I checked out Silver Sash but it didn't really grab me, it was a bit too, idk, industrial perhaps? I really loved the big rocking electric thing he had going from Laughing Stalk through to Star Treatment, songs like 'Long Horn', "Hiss' and 'Hired Hand'. Any time he straps the Gretsch on and the drums do the tribal thing I love it.

I'm really stoked that 16 Horsepower are back, Secret South is one of my all-time favorite albums. Do you think you'll get to see 16HP?

This popped up on my feed to buy signed so I checked out the 2 songs to sample.
